From Awareness to Action: Combating Hypertension and Diabetes in Rural Communities

In the rural communities we serve, there is an urgent need to prevent, detect, and manage hypertension and diabetes. Preventing hypertension (high blood pressure) begins with adopting healthy lifestyle habits.

At Mansa Memorial Hospital, we are actively responding to the urgent need for chronic disease prevention through a series of targeted outreach initiatives.

These events are designed to meet people where they are, literally and figuratively, by raising awareness about the risks of hypertension and diabetes, offering free or low-cost screenings, and connecting individuals with ongoing care and support services.

Closing the Health Gap: Access to Lifesaving Screenings and Education

By engaging with community members in markets, churches, mosques, and other local gathering places, we are breaking down the barriers that often prevent early diagnosis and treatment.

Since we began our outreach efforts in 2023, more individuals are seeking timely medical attention, avoiding the severe complications of unmanaged chronic diseases, and embracing preventive practices. With each event, every blood pressure reading, and every conversation, we are driving a shift in community attitudes toward health.

Through strategic partnerships with local leaders, healthcare workers, and civic organizations, we are scaling our reach and deepening our impact.
